Have used both the 500 and 1000 for dead sticking crappie and walleye ice fishing. You no longer need to spend the extra $$ on specific built rods to dead stick, this reel eliminated the need for an extra rod in the case. The drag is smooth and has been durable out on the ice so far. No complaints. Big fan of the tactical green color.
