Original 5 star review:I use it on a medium weight (30#) rod fishing mostly for bay bass and halibut in the San Diego bay. It took some trial and error to get it set up. But once I did I get flawless long casts 99% of the time. It was either this or the Curado DC. But, my local tackle shop recommended against the Curado in salt water. I’m glad I got this one, and shortly I’ll be getting a larger one for going after dorado & tuna.Downgrounded to 2 stars…Update after 8 months of use. This is my go to real, on a Phenix 30# rod , for fishing San Diego Bay. I use a 15# flouro leader, so I’m not stressing the reel much. I fish it about 6 hours per week…every week. so, roughly that’s 180 hours of use, and it reeled in about 600 bass and other similar sized bay fish. A few outings ago, the reel started to lock up mid cast. I figured I was doing something wrong…then on the last outing, when the spool was spinning it sounded like it was grinding coffee. I took it to my local tackle shop, and they agree it sounded like the spool bearing is shot. So, it’ll be about 4 weeks out of use. I didn’t expect this from Shimano, and I’m disappointed.
