We fish custom made Loomis rods and I wanted to let my boy have his own thing. I bought him a Custom rod made from an Exceller Pheonix blank and got him the ballistic 1000. So far no complaints. It is smooth as silk and at almost 2 ounces lighter than the 700, it is a very nice real.
